Coaches Head Coach: Jill Parr 2008 West Zone Coach of the Year 2009 US Developmental Coach of the Year ![]() Jill has been involved in synchronized swimming for over 25 years. This is her fifth year as the head coach of the Aqua Stars, and she is extremely excited to lead this talented young team to another successful season. Jill is in the US National Team Coaches Pool, and was the assistant coach for the 2009 US 13-15 National team. Prior to coaching with the Aqua Stars, Jill was the head coach of Seattle Synchro in Seattle, WA, an assistant coach for the Aruban National Team, and an assistant coach for MAC Synchro in Portland, OR. As an athlete, Jill competed for over 17 years, where she was a finalist at Age Group Nationals, National Junior Olympics, Collegiate Nationals, US Senior Open, and US Senior Nationals. Her years of experience give her valuable insight into the minds of young athletes, as well as training and competition at every level. Jill graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Dietetics.
13-15 Age Group Coach: Jessica McMahon Jessica McMahon started her synchronized swim career with the Arizona Aqua Stars and then moved to California to swim with the Santa Clara Aquanuts. She was a national team member and competed all over the world until an injury forced her to quit the sport. Jessica coached one year for the Santa Clara Aquanuts and then moved back to Arizona to be closer to her family. Jessica started coaching with the Aqua Stars in 2007. She had her work cut out for her the first year, but managed to take her team to Nationals and place 4th! Since then the 13-15 team has been a force to reckon with on the medal stand. Jessica continues to be a driving force in the Aqua Star coaching staff and is known for her outstanding choreography.
Kristin Wills- 13-15 B Team Coach This is Kristin’s third year coaching with the Arizona Aqua Stars. She swam with the team for four years and competed in 2006-07 on the 18-19 National Championship team while her trio took second place in the nation. She is excited to pass on her knowledge and enthusiasm for synchronized swimming. This year Kristin looks forward to moving up to assist in the 13-15 age group category. Along with swimming for the Aqua Stars, Kristin has volunteered for the past three summers helping coaches with the City of Mesa summer synchronized swimming program. In the past, Kristin has swum on recreational and competitive speed swimming teams and currently swims for Mountain View High School during their competitive season. ![]()
Shannon Noble 11-12 Age Group Coach Shannon is a junior attending Arizona State University and majoring in Exercise and Wellness. She started swimming with the City of Mesa when she was 7 and continued with it until she finally decided to join the Aqua Stars when she was 14. She swam with the Aqua Stars for four years and gained a lot of life skills that have helped her coach as well as re-start the ASU Synchro Devils with Haleigh Martinez. After her first year at college, Shannon couldn’t stay away from the team and came back to swim her final year on the 18-19 age group team.
Following that year, the 2008-2009 season, Shannon coached the 11-12 age group and coached the team to 4th place at Age Group Nationals in Florida. The 2009-2010 season is her second year coaching with AAS and is again coaching the 11-12 age group. She is excited to work with these girls because it is an awesome age to teach these girls there necessary skills in synchro as well as life. ![]() Haleigh Martinez 10 & Under Coach Haleigh started synchro when she was 10 years old with the Chandler Synchrocats. After two years there, she decided to get more competitive, and made the switch to Arizona Aqua Stars. She started on the 12-13 team, and quickly moved to the A-team, where she spent 4 years, 3 under Head Coach Jill Parr. Most recently, Haleigh competed in the 2007-2008 Age Group Nationals where her trio won 2nd place in the 18-19 Age Group. The 2009-10 season marks Haleigh's second year of coaching for the Arizona Aqua Stars.This past summer,she coached for City of Mesa's synchro program, working with beginners on every aspect of synchro. Haleigh is known for her "hands on" approach to coaching. You'll frequently find her walking along the side of the pool correcting leg and arm positions. She LOVES coaching figures! Haleigh loves all aspects of the water - wake boarding, jet-skiing, and last year did speed swimming for Gilbert high school. Haleigh is now freshman at Arizona State University at the Barrett Honors College majoring in Biochem with a minor in Spanish. She loves to read, study, and speak Spanish to my swimmers :)
